Warbots
Introduction

Astute readers may recognise the description of the warbots as being that of the Daleks from the Doctor Who TV series. More specifically Doctor Who and The Daleks (which was remade as a film with Peter Cushing). The blue, red, and black Daleks were featured in the film version (the TV series being only B&W at the time). On the other hand, readers who rely on that story only may be caught out: there are more than 3 different types and they are not restricted to the city only!

What is a Dalek?

The global war that engulfed Asmodeus (or Skaro as it was then called) was between two main factions: the Thals and the Kalids. A Kalid scientist, Davros, realised that the combination of radiation and chemical weapons could cause his race to mutate into another form. He set about finding what that form might be and was horrified at the pityful result. His solution was to place the mutated creature inside a robotic travel machine and to augment its intelligence with a computer linked via implants. Davros, himself crippled and in a wheelchair as a result of a Thal attack, then perverted his own idea: the travel machine was armed and armoured, and the creature's humanity was supressed via the computer implants (pity and remorse were removed, aggression was heightened). He called the new creature a Dalek (an anagram of Kalid).

Dalek construction is based around an vaguely conical chassis 1.58 m tall and massing 260 kg. The primary alloy is a unique invention of the war and has a toughness 10 times greater than steel yet masses only 8% by volume.

The primary means of locomotion is a large rolling ball in the base. Secondary locomotion is provided by a light grav module. Power is supplied by a fuel cell with a duration of 1250 hours.

Daleks are equiped with a light arm, laser carbine, a/v sensors plus a voder, a 5km range radio. The Dalek creature is grafted to a computer. The computer has 19 CPU and 19 Storage for skills (a typical package would include: Pilot, Navigator, Grav Vehicle, Gunnery, Weapon Handling, and Infantry Ground Combat.
