Flooding in Tanna and Aniwa. 20 people were killed after roof panels in Tanna Prime gave way allowing accumulated rain water to flood a residential block. Unrepaired bomb damage from over a year ago apparently allowed rain water to accumulate in cavities under the archology's roof structure. With the recent heavy rains the weight of water became too much for the underlying panels and they broke, releasing tens of thousands of liters inside. An investigation by the CPW's Health & Safety Executive has begun.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, at least 20 people were killed and 100 are missing after heavy rains triggered a flash flood in Aniwa. Run-off from the Palace washed through a refugee camp causing the damage. The Aniwa city council said it would consider relocating the camp.
